4-H Share the Fun Et Performing Arts Day The 2013 Meeker County 4-H Share the Fun & Performing Arts Day was held Sunday afternoon, Feb. 24, in the Bernie Aaker Audi- torium at the Family Services Cen- ter in Litchfield. There were six Share the Fun and 26 Performing Arts acts. Share The Fun is a time for kids to share fun skits with their peers and adults while perform- ing for an audience. The purposes of Share The Fun include: build- ing club rapport and unity, pro- moting 4-H, and providing recog- nition for the club. Many Meeker County 4-H'ers had a great oppor- tunity to share their talents. Along with the 4-H Ambassadors, partic- ipants included members from the following clubs: Acton Buzzers, Danielson Hustlers, Dassel Lamp- lighters, Kimball Kruisers, Koro- nis Eager Beavers, Litchfield Satel- lites, and the Valley Victors. Share the Fun Awards were as fellows: Best Props - Litchfield Satellites will also perform their acts during the Share the Fun showcase at the Meeker County Fair. Performing Arts allows youth the opportunity to showcase their talents, build self-confidence, and have fun! There were a wide variety of different performances. Shelby Schiefelbein named State EXCEL Winner By Bruce Holmseth, Activities Dir. Congratulations to Shelby Schiefelbein who was selected as a 2013 EXCEL Award Winner. Each school in Minnesota has an award winner, and state winners are selected from a panel of judges from schools throughout Minne- sota. This is the 17th year that the MSHSL has sponsored this award. Shelby was the KAHS representa- tive, who was then chosen by this panel as a state winner. Shelby's profile will be aired throughout the broadcasts of all winter state tournaments on Channel 45. Saturday, March 16, she will be presented a plaque during half- time of the Class AA champion- ship Girls Basketball Tournament. Shelby participates in volley- ball, softball, band, choir, and speech. She is a member of Knowl- edge Bowl, National Honor Soci- ety, Student Government, and a Minnesota Beef Ambassador. Lady Cubs defeat Johnnies on Senior Night By Ieremy Kuechle, coach The Kimball seniors played their final game at home Mon- day, Feb. 25, against St. John's Prep in a non-conference matchup. St. John's started hot, making seven of their first eight shots from the floor, resulting in an early lead for the Johnnies. Offensive firepower for the Cubs answered as Allie Seth scored 12 first-half points, and Casie Mackereth scored 9 first-half points, sparking Kimball to a 28-26 hatftime lead. Kimball continued to wear down St. ]ohn's in the second half, as they built on their lead, and finished the regu- lar season on a winning note by a final score of 62-44. Seth led all scorers with 25 points, followed by Breane Meierhofer's 12 points. Casie Mackereth finished with 9, Kenadi Mackereth 8, Paiten Sch- reiner 3, Madelyn O'Brien 3, and Kaylee Petty 2. Rebounding lead- ers were Seth with nine and Mei- erhofer eight. Meierhofer also had eight assists, while Kenadi Mack- ereth had four. Steals leaders were Meierhofer with five and Raelynn Callander with three. Kimball fin- ishes the regular season with an 11-13 overall record. I would like to thank all the seniors: Raelynn Calllander, Bre- ane Meierhofer, Kenadi Mack- ereth, Paiten Schreiner, Alissa Jones, Casie Mackereth, Kay- lee Petty, Allie Seth, Malina R0ettgermann, and Managers Kyleigh Eisenbraun and Kendra Atherton, for all their hard work and dedication. The Cubs begin the postseason Thursday, Feb. 28, at Foley in the Region 5AA North playoffs at 7 p.m. Go Big Blue! Sixth Annual Sportmans Night Out Mark your calendars for the Sixth Annual "Sportmans Night Out" which will be at Powder Ridge north of Kimball Friday, March 29. The event is sponsored by Maine Prairie .Ducks Unlim- ited Chapter #312. This event includes raffles for a Fishing pack- age, two Waterfowl Hunting pack- ages, Tier Raffle, 3-Gun Raffle, Bean Bag Raffle, Pull Tab Gun Raf- fle, Green Wing Raffle Sponsored by The Kimball Rod and Gun Club and a Deer hunting package. The Big Dog gun is a Fausti Silvery DU engraved O/U 3" 12 gauge. Other packages will be available with a total of at least 10 shotguns and rifles raffled. A silent auction will also include many donated items from area businesses and DU mer- chandise. A sit-down dinner of fish or chicken will be included.
