R.wasla great experience and fun to see famou~ sights My favorite subject in school: Art, because I liked to design and create projects using differept mediums. When I little, I always wanted to be: an airline pilot. At that time I thought i~ would be cool to fly a plane. My coiles~(s) and degree(s): I went to Bemidji for a year to experi- ..... eIlce being away from home. That was really hard, but it got better as the~yearw~nt by. I transferred to the University of Minnesota where I earned m~ bachelor s degree in elementary education and a concen- tration in science. I earned my master's degree from St. Mary's Uni- ~:~i versity in Winona and have completed 60 additional ~:redits. il chose tc~ become a teacher because: I liked working and being around kids. I also felt that I had the personality to get along and ~"~wiSi~k with :many kinds of people. My favorite teacher was: My sister. She helped me get through all my i~ high seho0t math classes. I would ask her the night before a test to quickly te~c'h me the chapter. She was a middle school math teacher. ~i~ If ! wa~n t h teacher: I think I would be doing something in the travel ii~i industry, l~ke being a travel agent or leading bus tours around the United States. ....... i'Ve been teaching for: 34 years. My first job was a 2/3 combination classroomihere in Kimball. I've been here ever since. ~.. ~e best ~art of teaching is: to see the light bulb shine as students ~ become engaged in their own learning. The students make every day ~ .unique, add no two are the same. My familyi l met my husband Steve here at Kimball Eiementary. i~We both started teaching the same year. I have a beautiful Korean daughter, Melanie, and a smart and hilarious 21-month-old grand- ~i daughter Kylee. She brings so much joy into my life. I am grateful she ~ lives closei J also live with a pampered Shitzu, Lulu. She acts like she iii is part cat ~nstead of all dog. I use her behaviors to model story-writ- iii: ingto my students. ii My hobbies and interests outside of school: I enjoy making quilts. i{ Summertime you can find me outside with a good book. Traveling to new and old places gives me lots of adventure which I really enjoy. Going for walks gives me new energy. H [ V~
