Local crime blotters High-speed chase ends in Meeker County crash, arrest Monday, May 27, at 12:08 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriffs Office assisted the Minnesota State Patrol with pur- suit of a motor vehicle coming into Meeker County eastbound on Hwy 55 from Paynesville. The State Patrol requested assistance for stops sticks (road spikes) to be put out on Hwy 55 near Eden Valley. The suspect, driv- ing at speeds of 100-110 mph, was able to get through town before stop sticks could be deployed. The pursuit con- tinued southbound on 642nd Ave- nue and then onto CSAH 34, south- bound. A deployment of stop sticks was attempted byofficers on CSAH 34, near MN Hwy. 24, unsuccessfully due to the suspect vehicle speed, and maneuver- ing. One of the officers in pursuit could be heard in the State Patrol recording as saying, "This is not his first day behind the wheel." The suspect vehicle then turned eastbound onto MN Highway 24, and continued to the Forest City area. The vehicle attempted to turn onto a gravel road just outside of Forest City onto 315th Street, and lost control of the vehicle spinning into the ditch. A MN State Trooper was able to block the vehicle from getting out of the ditch by using his squad car. The suspect was then taken into custody without fur- therincident. The suspect was identifed as Jon- athan Daniel Moore, 31, of Callaway, Minn.; he was driving a 1996 Chev- rolet Camaro. He had originally been stopped for an equipment violation, but speed off as the State Patrol officer got out of his car.
