Parade begins a regional competition at Kimball ... from the Tri-County News archives 10 years ago After a landslide victory, a bill sponsored in the state senate by Sen. Steve Dille went into effect on May 27, regulating live adult entertainment businesses in Minnesota. The new law was con- ceived when Dille attended a meeting in Eden Valley last fall regarding the gentlemen's club that had begun operating there. The Garden of Eden Gentlemen's Club was closed Saturday, June 17, 2006, by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office. 20 years ago The dream of a new Fire Hall has finally become a reality. After being mayor of Kimball for 7-1/2 years, Mariella Arnold bids farewell. Her last council meeting will be June 17, 1996. She has sold her home and will no longer be residing in Kimball. The last comment in her 'From the Mayor' article was "One can be very proud to live in the Kimball area where people work together for the good of all." 30 years ago Eden Valley celebrates their 100th Anniversary with a celebration from June 18 through June 22, 1986. Events include Crazy Legs Contest, Beard Growing Contest, Horseshoes, Nail Driving Contest, Tug-O-War, Water Ball Fight, and Street Dance among the many other contests and fea- tured events. 40 years ago Among the various projects helping us celebrate our Nation's 200th Birthday is the Armed Forces Bicentennial Exhibit Vans Project. The Caravan is made up of four vans, each 40 feet long. Each van represents a different branch of the armed forces and offers a different exhibit. The Caravan will arrive at the St. Cloud downtown mall on June 10 and will be on display June 10 and 11, 1976. Compiled by Jayne Harff
