4 Kimball Tri-County News--Thursday, June 27, 1991 Joyce Bm-gstaler 8-M82 Ann Hamilton 8-M81 Members of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America from Redeemer; Ostmark, Grace and North Crow River Lutheran Churches went to St. John's University on Wednesday where they attended the Southwestern Minnesota Synod 1991 WELCA Convention. The theme for the convention was "Alive in Christ." Bishop Charles Anderson of the SW MN Synod of the ELCA was among the speakers addressing the more than 500 women in attendance. Thirteen mini-sessions on topics such as South Africa, the environment, aging, fitness, liturgical dance and spirituality were part of the two-day convention. They also elected a vice president, secretary and four board members at the meeting. A number of area folks attended the Open House 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Ellsworth and Arvilla Miller at Playland on Sunday afternoon. An open house bridal shower was held Sunday afternoon in Forest City honoring Cheri Draxton, bride-to-be of Dennis Anderson, son of Larry and Jtmice Anderson, and grandson of Lawrence and June Horwath. After their marriage they will be residing on the former "Bill and Florence Rokala" place-- Welcome to our "Friendly Neighbors neighborhood !" Helen Laitinen went to Minneapolis on business midweek and spent overnight at Bloomington at the home of her son Jim and Jeann Olson. Rudy and Joyce Burgstaler took Lyle Burgstaler up to Willmar on Friday afternoon to secure his apartment and get other necessary details taken care of at Willmar Technical College where he will begin on Aug. 29 in the Auto Body Repair program. Also attending from this area are Doug Jewison, Kent Rorick and Chris Wirz. The boys will all be living in the same apartment house! !! A large crowd attended the outdoor morning worship service and potluck Midsummer picnic which followed at Ostmark on Sunday. Sunday afternoon Joyce and Rudy Burgstaler visited at the lake home of Erling and Regina Christoler on Lake Washington west of Dassol. Walmart has announced that it plans to build a store in Hutchinson which should be completed by next spring. For the past two mornings Jo$'ce has had a goldfinch that comes to visit and sits on the windowsill of her living room picture window. He watches what she is doing for a while and then flies away. She is going to have to put up a feeder to invite more of his friends! He looks lonesome! Happy 16th to K.M. ! Everyone was amazed that there were two Dorothy Olsons in the contest. Dorothy Olson of St. Cloud came in third. The winner from the St. Cloud Region was Flora Mohring of Buffalo. In Asia, milk is a prestige drink symbolizing the new values of a consumer society. Middle class people in Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines are eagerly drinking the protein-rich fluid.
