The church was open afterward for visitors. 20 years ago The Wright County Sheriff's Department responded to an incident at the Latzig Fur Farm in Middleville Township on July 4. Sometime during the evening, an unknown person or persons entered the Latzig property and released approximately 1,000 mink from their cages. Many of the mink stayed within the fences area, although some escaped through a fence gate that was opened. 30 years ago Minnesota became the 20th state in the nation to pass a mandatory seat belt use law. The legis- lation takes effect Friday, Aug. 1. The newlaw requires that "a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt" shall be worn by the driver and any passenger in the front seat, and all passengers under the age of 11 riding in any seat. A violation will not result in a fine but violators will be issued a safety warning. 40 years ago St. Anne's held a very successful bazaar on Sunday, July 18. A Total of 776 meals were served. The auction began about 1:30 and the final cart was sold just before 5 p.m. Dave Hendricks and Joe Houdeck were the auctioneers. JoAnn Hendricks and Sue Houdek were the clerks for the sale.
