Come join the Kimball Days Parade. It's planned for 2 p.m. Sun- day, Aug. 14. The line up is at 1 p.m. at St. Anne's parking lot, the north entrance. Entry fee is $25. Lip sync competition for Kimball Days Participants needed The lip sync competition for Kimball Days is at St. Anne's start- ing at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. He is currently employed as a computer engineer at Lockheed- Martin, Eagan. The couple plans to live in Minneapolis. Angela is a 2004 graduate of Kimball Area High School and a 2010 graduate of St. Cloud State University. She is employed at Hastings Books & Video in Hobbs, N.M. Daniel is a 2004 graduate of Sibley-Ocheyedan High School in Sibley, Iowa, and a 2008 graduate of St. Cloud State University. He is employed as a hydrologist at the Department of Energy Waste Iso- lation Pilot Plant for Nuclear Waste Storage near Hobbs, N.M. Eden Valley Ausust Blood Drive The American Red Cross will be in Eden Valley from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden Valley. Our goal has been set for 57 units. Though that seems a small number, the goal cannot be met without willing donors giving ot their time and the gift of life. Denny Haglund of North Cen- tral Blood Services reported that by August, our area would be 2,000 units short. Please make an extra effort to donate and encourage oth- ers to help. In the past, many of you have stated that you are on medica- tion for various reasons. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please call the American Red Cross Donor and Client Support Center at (866) 236- 3276, Option 3. To prepare your body for blood donation: Get eight hours of sleep the night before. Eat a healthy breakfast or lunch, or both. Don't skip meals on that day. Make healthy food choices. Eat proteins (lean meat, cheese, and yogurt), or complex carbohy- drates (bread, cereal, and fruit). Include iron-rich foods such as red meat, fish, poultry, beans, iron- fortified cereal (such as Cream o! Wheat), and raisins. Drink a few extra glasses of water or fluids in the days before you donate. Start the day with a bottle of water, or a glass of orange juice. If you drink water within 10-30 minutes before donation, you may be less likely to experience dizzi- ness and !ight-headedness. Remember to bring your photo ID, and, if required, (for students) a signed parental consent form. Whole blood donors may donate every 56 days. A double-red cell donor may donate every 112 days.
