At the last annual meeting, March 8, 2011, as part of the discussion regarding the Town Hall, a 24-4 vote was in favor of pursuing a new space in which to conduct Township business. The Township needs a space: where Township business can be conducted notin someone's home, as it is today; where regular business hours can be established to better serve Maine Prairie residents; where the Township has unlimited access; where Township business can be conducted without the interruptions of others' meetings, fire calls, etc.; that provides accessible, fireproof storage protection of 150 years' worth of Township records (instead of residences and granaries, as is presently the case); that provides adequate storage of other Township assets like signs, posts, voting machines, culverts, and more (all stored in numerous privately-held locations). that provides adequate space for Primary, General and Township Elections, and the Township annual meeting. that provides sufficient parking. Current office space at the Kimball Fire Hall The Township has received a generous gift of land for the purpose of locating a Town Hall. This site is in the SE corner of Highway 15 and Dellwood Rold. Kimball Fire Hall is NOT the Maine Prairie Town Hall. The Kimball Fire Hall is solely owned by the City of Kimball, NOT by the Township. The Township has the legal option to enter into a contract with the City of Kimball and add on space to the existing Kimball Fire Hall.
