Thursday, September 15, 2011 Tri-County News Kimball, MN i::iiiiiiiii,i - ........ -'.. 7=/= 7] Community Home Stretch: One step closer to homeownership rrrrrrrrrl ..... I Central Minnesota Housing Partnership is providing Home Stretch, a homebuyer educa- tion workshop, in St. Cloud from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the St. Cloud Federal Credit Union (3030 1st Street South). You have the opportunity to free yourself from some of the complications and stress in buy- ing a home by participating in a Home Stretch Workshop offered by Central Minnesota Housing Partnership. By participating in this class, you will learn about qualifying for a mortgage and financing a home, budget and credit issues, real estate, the closing process, basic home maintenance and afford- able mortgage products that may be available to first-time home- buyers. Central Minnesota Housing Partnership, a non-profit organi- zation providing affordable hous- ing services to the central region of Minnesota, coordinates the Home Stretch workshop. Community lenders, realtors, title companies, home inspectors and other hous- ing professionals volunteer their time to bring first-time homebuy- ers the most important and cur- rent information about the home buying process. "It's a great time to be a first-time homebuyer," said Deanna Hem- mesch, Community Development Director for CMHP. "There are so many opportunities out there for homebuyers at the moment and Home Stretch will provide the needed information a first-time homebuyer should know before beginning the process." Some affordable mortgage products, first-time homebuyer products and government loans may require a buyer to receive a Home Stretch certificate. "Home Stretch and pre-pur- chase counseling are the best "first-steps" in the homebuying process," said Hemmesch. "Buy- ing a home is usually the largest investment an individual or fam- ily will make in their lifetime. The more educated a person is on the homebuying process, the better decisions they will make about this large investment." There is a $25 fee per household to participate in Home Stretch and registration is required.
