The Kimball Cubs varsity volley- ball team finished 1 and 3 for the day and 12th out of 15. Although the Cubs' record doesn't show it, the team played hard and was in each match until the finish.. The day started against Mel- rose. The Lady Cubs lost the first set 19-25, won the second set 25-12, and lost the third set 12-15. Stat highlights included Breane Mei- erhofer with two ace serves and seven kills and Steph Konz with 10 kills. The Cubs won the second match 2-1 against St. Cloud Cathe- dral. The set scores were 23-25, 25-17, and 15-10. In this match, Breane also led with six kills while Steph Konz followed with four kills. In their third match, the Lady Cubs defeated Rogers in their first set 25-21, but fell into a receiv- ing slump and couldn't pull out of a 9-25 loss. The third set went to Rogers with a score of 7-15. Cora Gohmann led with-five kills, Bre- ane Meierhofer and Rachel Arnold both followed with four kills each. In the last match of the day, the Cubs faced Sauk Centre.
