Haapajoki Reino John Haapajoki, 77, of ]i bnll Commnnifv Educa Kingston died Oct. 29, 1991 at the Dassel lakeside Community Gayle Schneider, Director Home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 2, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with Rev. Jeffrey Blank of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Kingston officiating. Burial was in the Redeemer Lutheran Church Cemetery, north of Kingston along High- way 15. He was born on September 12, 1914 in Winton, MN to John Erick and Hilma Haatmjoki. He moved with his parents as a young child to the Kingston area and this area remained his home for his entire life. He married Pearl Maikkula in Mineapolis on January 25, 1947. For 18 years they owned and op- erated the Kingston Hardware Store in Kingston. Later he served as District Sales Manager for Patz Farm Equipment. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II from Oct. 14, 1942 to Dec. 30, 1945. He was a member of Re- deemer Lutheran of Kingston and had served on the Church Council for many years; a mem- ber of the Johnson Kelly Ameri- can Legion Post of Kingston and was a Past Commander of the Post; an Honorary Member of the Litchfield Veterans of For- eign War Post; a member of the Meeker County Last Man's Club; a former member of the Meeker County Planning Com- mission Board; a former mem- ber of the Meeker County Fair Board, having served over 20 years; a former member of the Kingston School Board of Dis- trict No. 1 of Meeker County; he served as the first Mayor of the Village of Kingston and held that position for 20 years; a member of the Finnish Ameri- can Society. He is survived by his wife; daughter Lynnette, Mrs. Jim Schroeder, Bagley, MN; son, Jon Happajoki, Bminerd, MN; 5 grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Pousi of Dassel. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Johnson, Walter Leppa, Clifford Wilson, Dovald Ander- son, Arnold Juusola, Ted Root, Robert Maikkula, Harry Nelson, Wayne Laitinen. Pallbearers were Gary Nel- son, Gene Nelson, Larry Trout, Tarry Trout, Jerry Maikkula and Dwight Maikkula. Music was provided by the New Creation Singers and Ned Root with Barbara Root as or- ganist. Military Honor Guard and rites at the cemetery by the Johnson Kelly American Legion Post of Kingston. Arrangements were made by the Johnson Funeral Home of Dassel. Death Notice Louie Bartlett died suddenly Monday, Nov. 4, at her home in Anoka. She grew up in the "Stickney Hill" area, and is the grandmoth- er of Mrs. Jerry (Rose) Hoeft. You will learn to make trees, poinsettias, roses, edging and writing. If you do not have tips, you may purchase them from the school at a small cost. Each par- ticipant is asked to bring a baked cake ready for decorating to each class.
