Kimball Area High School 2012 graduate Rachel, Arnold gave a record-breaking, stellar perfor-. mance recently, in the start of her first volleyball career at Gus- tavus Adolphus College. Arnold, now a sophomore, shelled out 50 assists and added 14 digs in a vic- torious match over St. Mary's Col- lege. If that wasn't enough, Rachel registered another 50 assists and 13 digs in the ensuing match with St. Catherine's, becoming the first Gustie setter in four years to record 50 or more assists in back-to-back matches. Bridget Burtzel distributed 63 assists against Concordia, followed by 56 assists vs. Macalester, in 2009. "It's all about working hard, hav- ing faith and expecting the unex- pected. After sustaining a traumatic bas- ketball injury in her senior year, Rachel underwent surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation over the summer of 2012. Determined to play volleyball at Gustavus, Rachel made the team and fought her way up to the varsity squad. A music scholarship recipient, Arnold is a double major in biol- ogy and health fitness, and plays violin with the Gustavus Philhar- www.riverwoodrealty, com monic Orchestra.
