We have six returning section-place win- ners and one state entrant from last season. Our team is young with a lot of experience at the var- sity level. In our first practice, the guys set team goals of taking home a conference and section title, while placing 10 individuals into the state tournament. These goals place a ton of pressure on the kids, but after watching them through the first two weeks of practice, you can tell they are focused and pre- pared to accomplish these goals. The key leaders to this year's team include Marcus Hamer, Tan- ner Mills, Tyler Kuechle, Caramon Hansen, Mitch Pramann, Travis Schiefelbein, and David Joseph. Marcus Hamer is a ninth grader that is new to K~mball this year. Marcus finished last season with a 16-7 record after being out the first half of the year with an injury. He is currently ranked 9th in class A at 103 pounds and is a great addition to our program. Marcus should be in the hunt for a state tournament showing this year. Tanner Mills had a record of 26-12 last year with a fifth-place finish in sections as an eighth grader. As a ninth grader, Tanner is looking to improve on last year's finish and contend for a state berth. Tyler Kuechle had a record of 24-14 with a fifth-place finish in sections as a 10th grader. This year Tyler has one more year of experi- ence and needs only 32 wins this year to break the 100-wins mark. Tyler is a junior this year, looking to make his first state tournament appearance. Caramon Hansen is in his first year with Kimball after finishing with a 30-10 record last year, and had a sixth-place finish in sections as a ninth grader for Rocori. Car- amon, as a 10th grader is looking to make some noise in a new con- ference and section. Caramon is a solid wrestler that will be contend- ing for his first state berth. Mitch Pramann finished last year with a 24-16 record in a very tough weight class. This will be the fourth year of wrestling for Mitch, and with the improvements he has made everyyear in the past, we are looking for some exciting things out of him this year, including a state run. Travis Schiefelbein finished last year with a 23-17 record and a first-place exciting finish in sec- tions and is Kimball's only return- ing state qualifier. Travis was able to get a taste of the state tourna- ment last year as a ninth grader and is looking forward to getting back there this year and do some damage. David Joseph finished last year with a 22-8 record and a sixth- place finish in sections. As an llth grader, David has bulked up with his training over the summer and is looking forward to helping the team reach their goals. David should also challenge for a state berth this year. We also have some kids in the room that we expect will be dark horses and surprise some teams this year and help Kimball to achieve their goals. They include Jordan Joseph, Austin Schiefel- bein, Travis Wills, Alex Thurber, Quentin Bryce, Cody Mackereth, and Tanner Meierhofer. Jordan Joseph is a seventh grader this year with a ton of tal- ent. Look for Jordan to surprise some talented kids this year. Austin Schiefelbein is an eighth grader who has four matches of varsity under his belt as a seventh grader and will be helping us out in the upper weights. Travis Wills had a 4-8 record for us as an eighth grader last year and is hungry to get back on to the var- sity roster as a ninth grader. Alex Thurber is a 10th grader this year who has wrestled varsity for us since seventh grade. He has put in some hard work and will be a leader in our upper weights this year. Quentin Bryce is in his second year of wrestling as a 10th grader. He finished very strong last year and placed fourth in sections and a record of 10-14 on varsity. Cody Mackereth is also in his second year of wrestling and fin- ished last year with a 4-8 varsity record. Cody will be the anchor of this year's team and be a true heavyweight that Kimball has not had for awhile. Tanner Meierhofer finished last season with a 10-9 varsity record and holds the record for the most pins in one season with 22. We look for Tanner to contribute a lot to the team this year. Other wrestlers to watch for this year include: Seventh Graders: Skyler Schiefelbein, Preston Wills, Teddy Zipoy, and Troy Filzen. Eighth Graders: Matt Donnay and Devon Kelley. Ninth Grader: Davien Vestal. 10th Graders: Luke Serbus and Jeremiah Kelley. llth Graders: Andrew Kieke, Tyler Filzen 12th Grader: Justin Huhn. We start out this season with high expectations and goals. This group of 26 wrestlers has the will and determination to win. As long as they can stay healthy, the goals that these gentlemen have set for themselves is obtainable. Come and support this team as they start out at home against Ren- ville County West at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. We then travel to the Rush City Individual tournament Satur- day Dec 5. And we are back on the roadto BeckerTuesdayDec8,to face Little Falls, Becker, and Big Lake. Mike Schindler Kimball Wrestling Coach Kimball boys' varsity basketball prepares for season By Todd Ostby The Kimball boys' basketball team prepared for this year's sea- son by participating in the Becker Fall League, St. Cloud State Sum- mer League, and tournaments at Maple Lake and St. Cloud. The team most recently played in the Becker Fall League. They played eight games and again got to see some competition that they hadn't played against. They won three games, beating Nevis, Sauk Cen- tre, and Rogers. Also, during the last weekend, they lost an exciting one-point game to Elk River, on a desperation last-second shot that went in as time expired. The other losses included a close three-point defeat to Zimmerman, and losses to Dassel-Cokato, Mora, and Sar- tell. The team has a great atti- tude going into this season, as they have the challenge of replac- ing four seniors and three trans- fers from last year. But, they enjoy playing the game and they had a lot of fun playing together during the Fall League. The team also enjoyed success in the tournaments they played in the summer, winning two and losing one during the Maple lake Tournament. And they won two and lost three during the St. Cloud State Tournament. They also played seven weeks during the St. Cloud State Summer Basketball League. The kids have put in a lot of time during the off-season and, hopefully this hard work will help them fill the holes from the team last year. Team members include Cody Erickson, Donny Jenson, Alex Fischer, Jade Hamilton, Pat Lib- besmeier, Jared Mackereth, Joey Robertson, Neil Helgeson, Dil- lon Menson, Taylor Kuseske, Brett Ostby, Aaron Laabs, and Austin Ruehle. erner . ,, ell prl II ater is our 14311 55~ St NW Annandale, MN 20+Years in Well and Pump Service Call "Rollie" 320-274-3856 Ce11320-980-1212 RIPPNE Building Site Prep. * Demolition - Basements Additions - Fill & Black Dirt o Septic Systems, New or Repair State Certified - Over 25 Years Experience - Free Estimates Call Larry Krippner, Owner (320) 398-8893 Marty, MN KIMBALL CHIROPRACTIC Dr. Chad Spaulding ~)!i! / Acupuncture ~ :~:~ ?ii: ~: Massage :iii~;.
